Five months ago, when I was faced with the harsh reality of what was really in my makeup products, I was devastated. That may seem like a strong word to use when talking about beauty products, but I’ve always used makeup as a way of expressing myself and I’m sure a lot of people can relate to that sentiment. Over the years, I had tried hundreds of different products through work, and just my own general fascination. I had finally reached a point where I had all my go-to products. But when I learned that many of these products contained things like parabens, talc and even lead, I knew I couldn’t in good conscience keep using them for two reasons. The more obvious one being my own health, but secondarily, I decided that I would no longer support a corporation that puts its bottom line about the health of its customers.
Shortly after coming to this decision, I began my search for new nontoxic options and truly didn’t believe I would ever be able to find products that could live up to my favorite ‘dirty’ favorites. So there began the process of trial and error. I won’t lie and say I’ve loved every product I’ve tried, and I am yet to try many, many other brands and products. But I can say that I have found several brands I love, namely RMS Beauty and W3LL People. A promise I would like to make today is that I will never endorse a product I don’t love and find effective. I hope through these posts I can help others become more conscious consumers and make their health a priority. I’m always open to recommendations and suggestions for content—feedback is welcome!
I filmed this video with an iPhone in my living room, so apologies if the quality is not up to par with all the fantastic makeup vloggers out there, but hopefully you can give me a pass since it’s my first video ;) This is my version of a light daytime look using only nontoxic makeup. All the products I used are listed below.
